I was referred to this site from Houston Fish Box. I have two large Oscars, M & F. The female developed this knot on her head about a month ago. It has increasingly gotten larger and larger and looks really ugly. I have tried water changes and adding more salt, I have treated tank with fungus tablets. Nothing is working. When she opens her mouth it looks like some kind of tumor on the roof of her mouth. She still eats and acts normal just looks gross.
Am attaching picture. Appreciate any help I can get on this one.
Maybe someone wants her to try to cure her! I am attaching pics

:welcome: to MFK!

I suggest holding off the other meds please otherwise you risk killing the fish quicker than its health issue can. I don't think that is fungus. Fungal infections should not looked anything like that. I do suspect however this seems to be tumor. Could you please get bigger close up shots of the tumor area? Tumor can be either benign or cancerous. There's no way to tell exactly unless you have a nearby fish vet to do that for you. If you want to see a fish vet, I'd give them a call first before consulting them personally as they might charge you just for consult fees alone.

Here's the link.

As Lupin stated, this does not look like an infection of any kind. If it is a cancer, salt is not going to do anything for it. It could just be a benign lesion though.

Can you blow that second pic up and make it larger?

Here are the most recent pics of her. I completed full treatments with Furan and also with General Cure. The tumor is not as red and ulcerated looking as it was but it is still there. She eats and trashes the hospital tank in normal Oscar temperment so she doens't feel bad and she eats. I have been soaking some bloodworms in vitamin C. I'm willing to try anything!

Hi aqua, I was the one who refered you to this sight from fishbox, I hope you find the info you are seeking on this sight. However on another note it looked like from the first pic that your oscar might have the start of hole in head. There is a pea sized crater near the laeral line above the gill. Then again this could be the way the camera is angled or somthing.

poor thing...
does the tumor thing look like an open sore now?
hopefully it doesnt get infected if it is...

and is that a tiger oscar? ive never seen one colored like that.
