Numerous people have named this pleco SPECIFICALLY in regards to the best "tank-cleaning" fish. Why would this specific pleco be better for cleaning than other plecos?

i dunno if they are the best cleanup plecos... Plecos usually clean up algae on glass because owners do not feed them enough.. so they have to look for food all over the tank...

Its really not a good thing..... but for me.. i keep plecos not as clean up crew.. but just like any other fish.. bottom dwellers...

anyways.. In my opinion.. common pleco and chocolate pleco are the best guys for clean up...

But get Albinos if u can.. harder to find.. but far more nicer... Took me awhile to find the right ones.. but i did and they are colorful

My two cents..

yeah i was thinking about getting a REALLY nice king tiger pleco or arabesque, but getting a baby so its really small. the small ones seem to be much more active anyway. the 4" i have now doesnt clean ANYTHING. i clean the glass myself because he just sits under his drift wood. the pleco i have now doesnt touch my fire eel, im just worried about getting a new one that starts going after my eel. cuz THAT would be bad.

I agree, the albinos are so pretty! I saw a beautiful common pleco that was a gorgeous yellow color... and it seems to me that it would be easier to tell if there is an issue with them (i.e sores, parasites, etc) because of the lighter body... and it sounds like your 4" doesnt clean the glass because your a good owner and feed him well. He doesnt feel the need to clean the glass and decor just to eat! lol

Bristlenose are just one of the better algae eating fish out there, if that's what you mean by "tank cleaning"
