State of chaos
Ive noticed that I'm the only person who "instant-cycles."
Why?
By instant cycle i mean take gravel or decor or hard surface from an established tank, put it in the new tank, run the filter for a few days, and viola!
"Instant cycle"

:D

Do you really think you are teh only one who uses established media/filters/etc to start another tank?

ive never heard of anyone mentioning it or even giving instructions on how to do it

ive suggested it on here before. the problem is, if someone is asking how to cycle a tank, chances are they dont have an established tank anywhere, so its pointless to suggest seeding.

i either add filter media from an established tank, or ill take gravel/media from an established tank, put it in brand new pantyhose, and hang it by the filter intake of the tank to seed for a week or two. i had read about doing the hose thing years and years ago, and its always worked fine for me.

I use plants in all my FW tanks, so other than the fact that it helps with bio filtration, the bacteria living on the surface of the plants leads to pretty much no cycle in the tank. I agree with above poster that people who don't have the foresight to research cycling questions before posting it on here means they probably don't have any established tanks.

I've been doing that for years.........:D Mostly with filter media, or driftwood.

I do it all the time , established gravel , 50% of water and established fiter media . Leave the tank for about a week or so and then i start adding a fish ( slowly ) .

I've done this beore. it's no big deal but depending on how fast and heavy you want to stock a tank it's not going to fully cycle your tank. just make it have BB faster. but not nessisarily the amount of BB you need for what you wish to stock.
