For the last few days it hasn't been eating the market shrimp that I've been throwing in there. It just watches the other fish eat and allows the portion in front of its face to fall to the bottom. Normally its an indiscriminate eater and has been on shrimp for a while now. I've also noticed that it has been increasingly aggressive towards its tankmates to the point where it keeps them cornered to one side of the tank under a piece of driftwood. The moment one of them pokes its head, the LMB chases them back in the corner. Today, I relented and threw a live goldfish and in the tank and it promptly ate it because I didn't want it to starve. It looks like it is regressing back to live only. I want it to continue eating the shrimp. The rest of its tankmates which consits of 2 slightly smaller peacock bass, 1 bluegill, and a decent sized red eared sunfish, are fine except for being scared to death because the LMB lost its mind. Other than not eating the shrimp and its increased aggressiveness, it seems perfectly fine and healthy. I want my mild mannered and only slightly aggressive lmb back.

Unfortunatly they get more agresive as they get older. And sometimes they go off prepared foods for no reason. You will probably have to reteach it to eat the shrimp.

i have tried taking the market shrimp and pulling it around the tank to make it look live... try to tie some fishing line really close to the end and make it look like its live. ive tried it before. make sure its sides can flap around when you pull it. hope it works keep me updated i really wanna know if this works for you.

When largemouths are in too warm of water, they become lethargic and don't eat as much...my guess is the warm temps are finally catching up to it.

Actually my temps have been hovering around 75 which is cooler than the lake I caught it from this time of year. The lake temp is around 82.

Yeah I've tried throwing live bloodworms in the tank, something he used to lobe when he was younger. The same result: everyone else in the tank would gobble them up and he doesn't even look at them.

If your tank is too small it could be a territorial problem thats probably why ur other fish a subdued into a corner... as for the feeding problem the size of the tank will make a difference but lmb in the wild typically eat live foods and should be stimulated with that same form of feeding in the aquarium

Well I know the fish around these parts wont rarely eat worms, they eat minnows, and if that minnow isn't lively they dont bother with it.

It may just be his predatory instinct, try some more live fish and see if he gobbles them up.
