My water parameters are ammonia .5, nitrite 1, nitrate 75. temp 68
My tank is 48"x18"x24. My banded cat shark is 33 inches long.
I feed him brine shrimp once a week.
He hasnt been swimming around like he used . He just lays there rocking back and forth. My whisper hang on the back filter produces enough flow to just knock my little shark onto his side. somebody please help me?

a couple of things that may be causing your problems is your tank is to small and if your using a whisper filter you probably don't have enough flow and the water quality probably isn't good enough for him. You need a bigger tank better flow and check your water quality.

uhh...if u are serious the answer is that you have a 33'' fish in a 48'' tank. thats basically like putting you into a normal sized closet and making you live your life there...

also, a better diet than just brine shrimp weekly is imperative, he heeds fresh, raw, seafood-fish fillets, shellfish, etc.

you should have zero ammonia and nitrite, they are poison to fish.

nitrate should be under 40, its a weaker poison then there other two but its still is dangerous at high levels

I definitely agree with both above, you need to get that guy into a 300 gallon tank minimum. When your looking at size width at minimum has to be 1.5-2x adult shark length and tank length needs to be 2-3 times adult shark tank, at the minimum, and always bigger is better. Plus you need fresh food like was stated and you need to supplement vitamins as well. Feeding should be done about 3x per week.

here he is swimming! he can only go one way though, he has trouble turning around. so cool!
