whats wrong with that dat

I bought 4 indos at 3 inches in may. All 4 eat pellets like crazy all 4 are growing fast now at 5inches. One dat constantly stays dark while the others are bright gold with beautiful dark stripes. water parimeters are good. So why is this one dat like that

Some Dats don't become as stable as one might like. Give time and his true colors will probably come out at one point. mine are always dark when hiding but once they come out to free swim their striking colors come out right away.

yeah each dat is different I have 9 dats and about half are stable all the time and the rest are not. The ones that are not stable are actually more active and better eaters so go figure. Like everyone else says be patient he may come around

The dark dat loves to hide especially around the heaters or underneath the driftwood. He only comes out of hiding to eat.

In my experience Dats take a long time to warm up to their owners compared to other fish like oscars or Arowanas ect//

put it this way your very lucky 3 out of 4 being stable is pretty good.
