Seriously....

Whiplash's left eye has looked like this from day one. It's been driving me crazy trying to get a clear enough picture to post and ask all of you piranha keepers about. I gave up on that, and drew it in paint.

He could barely see out of it when I first got him, he kept that eye to the tank wall, and it was barely light responsive. He's slowly gaining sight in it. Now he doesn't put that eye to the tank wall, and it's starting to respond to light changes much quicker.

This is the main reason I won't put him into a shoal. I'm worried about his longevity with that bad eye. The weirdest thing is, his other eye is perfectly fine. The pupil is nice and round, and he uses his right eye the majority of the time, to eyeball things more closely.

If someone could please tell me what's wrong here, I'd appreciate it!!

He could have a small fungus, stress, or other stuff. I would add some aquarium salt when you do water change to see that help for about couple of week.

It was like that at purchase, I didn't notice it until I got him home, and I wasn't about to take him back.

For almost 2 months I've been trying to photograph that eye. Without success...:nilly:

my altuvei had a bad eye due to fighting with a compressus... the LFS owner kept them in the same tank. i also never noticed until i got him home but he can somewhat still see. its been like that ever since i got him and i doubt it can be helped. you're just gonna have to accept it.

in a way it has its advantages because he looks unique in his own way ^_^ i call him "crazy eyes"

I don't have a problem with him because of it, he's my favorite fish. I just wanted to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong with him. And why his eye was like that.

Well, I'm glad to know there's nothing wrong with him, thanks guys!!

like welsher said could be just a bad eye (puple permitly dialated or not) so that could casue it to look funny
if thats the case theres nothing wrong and he should still be healthy

The pupil's not even round, it's blurred across the top and bottom of the pupil, making it look more like a goat's eye, than a fish's.
