whats wrong

My cichlid is loosing its tail. His tail is slowly dissapearing I dont see anything on it and Im pretty shure is not geting eatten Ive noticed some white stuff on his body but not on the tail? whats going on and what do I do?!?!?

sounds like u have some sort of bactiral or fungal infections would be better if u could post up some pics

what are the parameters of the tank ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate? Also how long has this tank been setup??

The Tank has been set up for quite a long time I would go as far to say 3 years but I re did it a month ago still keeping in mind I needed the good bactria I just did a vacuuming and rock scrub. The fish tho are new. Its a 110 gallon tank with 12 cichlids in it and 2 of them are starting to lose some fins the one has the fungus and the other for 3 days was extremly fat then one morning I got up and it was had lost its belly. That one is floating around with it almost looks like any energy. I'll try to get some pics. Im not sure what all my levels are at tho I'll see if my home water kits can help me on that.

Im wondering if the one that was extremly fat 4 a whille didn't clean out a snail shell.

Any thing quick that I can do to help things a little would be great though kinda gettin a little worked up for thesse fish. I dont want them to die

could be fin rot. if the parameters are good and nothing improves i would suggest going to the LFS and getting an antibacterial/antifungal medicine for fin rot.

Bad news is the one that was fat died. up side is that the one with the stuff on him has been tring with some success to het the stuff of him. he seems to be more livley since I added some salt turned up the heat and the airation. I'll get some pics shortly.

I put some meds for fin rot in there last night as well. I guess Ill just wait and find out what happens.
