i have a cobalt blue that does not get picked on that i can see but still hides in the corner and does not move much alot of the time i see it hovering straight up and down any idea what is wrong with it? it acts like its swim bladder is messed up or something.

if it is straight up and down, then it have no territory of it's own and you need to add more spot or arrange so they are more broken. The fish is been stressed by others and is trying to hid. It is common in this situation. In my species tank (tropheus) my holding females do this so the males will not harass them to try and breed when they are already holding. After they spit the join the group again.

i agree with Mike. i would rearrange the tank and add alot more hiding spots and maybe some tall fake plants along the back. it will make the blue feel more secure.

last weekend i went to my local river and got a bunch of flat rocks and after i boiled the heck out of them i set up some "caves" maybe this will help

here are some pics of her and the tank the way it is set up now

i would still get some taller fake plants to put along the back-see how the fish is hiding wedged in the corner? i think it would help him feel protected. if all else fails you may need to move him to another tank-maybe the one he is in is too rowdy for his taste lol

she is in a 20 gallon now but im going to be picking up a 55 gallon this weekend
