Quarantine Tank
After waiting ten years to have a tank that can hold an aro I finally have one! I currently have a silver aro, about 8 inches in my 180 gallon tank. I have been doing alot of research about aros but have seen so many conflicting opinions on feeding schedules! My question isnt what to feed the aro but how often? Everyday? Every otherday? How often do you guys feed your aros?!?!?

:help2:

i only feed once per day, usually at night cuz most of my fish are nocternal.. also i have days of fasting (usually 2-3 days a week) since by fish are mostly over 12" now..

2-3 times a day durring the week.
I'm at the significant others for the weekend...
Then he goes 2 days without anything.
Yipes!

Yay for Mr Jardini! :hearts:

So as the age/size of the aro changes does the feeding schedule change along with it? If so what is it? What is the reasoning for fasting? Are there any benefits?

yes, most adult predatory fish in the wild fast after a big meal, their digestive systems are built for periods of fasting.. fasting also keeps your fish fit and so they won't get overweight :)

as juveniles though they should be fed everyday to ensure proper growth ;)
