I am partial to amazon biotopes, which is pretty unoriginal, but there's just such a huge variety of fish from the amazon basin and I like planted tanks with big swordplants. Of course, that is not very specific, because there a million different biotypes in the basin.

After that, my favorite is probably lake tanganyikan biotopes, because lake tanganyika is awesome.
Southeast asian stream biotopes are pretty sweet also.

Anybody have some more interesting favorites?

I enjoy most of them. I think any biotope that's well done will be enjoyable. I've done South American, North American, and tanganyika.
I'd love to do an arctic geothermal vent, but that'll never happen.

Any tank with driftwood and plants and dark substrate works for me. Can't stand any thing that is too bare. Bare bottom really sucks imo.

Well, for me as long as its not bare bottom or basically an empty tank i think its okay... since i personally can't stand looking at tanks that are just 4 walls with nothing but fish inside... can't help but feel the fish must literally be bored out of their minds...
