In my tanks I have the timers set to turn the lights off at midnight. Then back on at 9 am .
Im just curious what other people have their lights set for and if mine is a little too abstract for the fish

10am-1pm lights off 3:45pm-10:45pm. But then i have manual controlled moonlights too. The time off is to keep algae in check. So far so good heh This is for a 55g.

I have a 10g growout/quarrantine tank also hooked up to my timer, but no moonlights on that yet.

I have a 29g but haven't added a timer just yet. The lights on that tank are pretty random right now.

5:30p - 11p lights on and 11p - 12a moonlights. my tank is near a window so daylight between 7a - 5p.

For breeding pairs I give 11~13 hours of light... more or less seems to affect breeding...

For "pet fish", in my expience, as long as it's been lite for 30 minutes before feeding, it really doesn't matter...

My lights come on at noon and stay on until midnight... because that's the 12 hour span that works best for me...

I used to have the fishroom on from 4pm to 4 am... but I found myself staying up way to late on work nights...

Didnt notice if you have live plants?? If not the fish dont care, in fact they prefer subdued light or just room light, unless of course your towns electric company is waiting for their Bailout money then leave em on 24-7
