i have a 180 with about 10 cichlids ranging from 10-12 inches 1 wolf 1 12 inch catfish. my question ive just got 2 good offers for filters cash is a concern but not an issue.

would you guys rather run 2 (TWO) xp-3 with a uv sterilizer for 160

OR

would you get 2 (two) fx-5 with no media for $400

what the better deal and would the 2 xp-3 and uv sterilizer be enough?

Run 3 xp-3's and a uv sterilizer it should still come out to less than you mentioned for 2 fx-5's with no media and flow 'close' to the same with the added benefit of a uv sterilizer. It really depends on the type of UV sterilizer it is and how many watts it is effective for.

I`d get the fx5s..for the filtration, and bragging rights..my pumps bigger than yours
