I went out this morning with the intention to learn how to fish a Texas rigged Senko, this lasted 20 minutes before I went back to my trusty spinners, caught a couple of little guys and tried the Senko again for about 15 minutes. I understand that more patience is needed when using larger bait/lures aimed at big fish but when you're fishing for something more common like a 2# lmb or hand sized bluegill how long do you stick with a spot or bait before mixing it up a bit?

For me it all depends what I'm doing. If I get away by myself I am patient and try working the same lure over and over for a bit. But if im out with my wife and kids, I'm usually getting impatient as I'm in a hurry to get something on for the kids...but usually when my kids are with me I'm pretty busy untangling knots and hooking up bobbers lol

I fish a senko as one of my main lures. Just look at different techniques. It takes time but it's worth it!where are you from? In from Connecticut and the red shad color kills them! But I hear down south lime green works like a champ!

I'm in the Chicago area and was trying a red. I'm going to work on plastics a little each trip until I actually catch something, I know they work I just need to develop the skill.

my plastic patience honestly depends on where i'm fishing and how im feeling that day. if i'm fishing familiar water i've had success with i am more likely to be patient and go through the motions a little better if i'm fishing new water i tend to get really ancy trying to get that first fish or two in.

as far as bluegills and bream... if i'm fishing bait under a float i'll give a spot 5-10 minutes tops and try setting the bobber at several different depths. typically if you fish a structure for 10 minutes with no bites there are either no sunfish there or none willing to bite and there's no reason to stick around when the next stickpile could be holding dozens of em

For me when fishing plastics i like the gary yamamoto baits. The watermelon green w/ cinnamon flake double tail grub works amazing! I fish it weightless. SLow is the key. Cast out....let it sink to the bottom. SOmetimes it wont even make it to the bottom. Once it hits the bottom give it 10 seconds. Then give it a couple small cranks on the reel....real slow. Let it sit. DO this again...but wait 15-20 seconds. Switch up your retrieve or pops...plastic movement. But slow is the key.

This is what I've been trying but I'm one of those fast motor people and the pace is killing me. This is also why I want to learn, be able to slow down will also benefit me in other areas of life such as work.

I have fished days on spots where I never catch anything and I never lost my patience.
With lurefishing I ussually go large after catching a few small ones to boost my confidence.
