Correct me if I'm wrong but 6700K bulbs are the ones needed for plants?

Can you guys share your personal preferences on tank lighting? Like compact flourescent, halide, etc. And what are the best brands; fixtures and bulbs??? Before I buy anything, I just wanna hear some opinions on lighting you have used.

BTW, I'm setting up a 29 gal. semi heavy planted tank with Co2

I like T5HO for bulb style and a mixture of 6,700 and 10,000 for color spectrum

I like the Nova brand (manufactured by current USA), but there are lots of good manufacturers out there.

i personally like the t5ho lighting the best looks good come in stylish fixtures. plants can use anywhere from 5k to 10k lighting. the fixture is up to you the main difference in fixtures is the reflectors that come with the lights. better the reflectors the better the light will work. teks are considered one of the top but also have a price tag to match i have a hagon glo fixture on my 29 gallon and i love it. thats just my opinion

Another vote for T5, and I too have a Nova freshwater fixture that I don't care for. FWIW, I ordered a pair a Geisemann bulbs yesterday (considered to be the best out there), and will be submitting a review shortly. I picked up an aquaflora bulb and a midday to go with it.

In PCs I prefer the AGA 8k
In HQI I also prefer 8k
I like the T5HO by Hagen a lot, but since I already have Halide, there is no sense in spending more money.
For the cost, I would go with the Hagen T5HO twin bulb fixture

Thanks everyone for posting!!!:)

Anyone else wanna add to this?

I used a power-glo T8 18000k 80lux lamp but had very little success, it could also have been the plants @ the LFS as they weren't the healthiest either.
