I don't know why some people think
that bettas can be kept in little
tiny bowls with out a filter, heater, or much food.
It's pretty cruel.
This is just my oppinion so what is yor take?

I'm against it. I did keep fish in bowls when I was kid though(Third grade and younger). I'm currently 22. Knowing what I know now, I would never do it again.

When you think of it... a bowl offers no corner to hide in... and absolutely no way to know where you are and where your going! Its like living in a glass sphere for the rest of your life with nothing in it but oxygen.... very creepy...

Idk about bettas bowls, but keeping them in betta cubes is fun. Jk, I always kept my breeding males in 10 gallon tanks with about 7 inches of water and no filter, some java moss. That's cause I was breeding them like that though. The females stayed in their own community tank where I pumped them all up with nice tubfix worms. However, when raising fry, it's unavoidable to put them into quart sized jars or the like, unless they are female. But then I did daily water changes so they stayed fairly healthy. I am against the whole bowl thing with the plant on top though.

No betta bowls for me. A 2.5g tank is enough for a betta along with a sponge filter to fit in it and plants.

i keep one of my betta in a 5g tank
will be getting a new one and the 15g is there for him but he will share it with 6 growing BN plecos

I have a betta in a bowl at work (many of us do actually) I have mine in the largest bowl I could get away with without the occupational health and safety guys jumping on me. My bowl is about half a gallon, and has gravel and a live water sprite plant. He has room to swim around and likes resting on the plant (occasionally he hides behind it if something startles him) It's sad seeing them in tiny bowls that aren't any more than cups so they can barely move, I'd love to have mine in a bigger bowl or tank, but at least I know how important it is to stay on top of water conditions and have the plant for cover & to utilise wastes.

i have mine in a 10g planted tank. my g/f and her sister had a etta in a decent sized bowl for 4years. he was the biggest betta i'd ever seen

Mine is in a filtered five gallon. The small bowls are for people who treat them as decoration and not a living creature. Petstores do this because they can put more inventory into a smaller space making higher profit. Just because they will survive doesn't make it a good idea. You could live your entire life in an 8x8 empty room. You would survive, but would you thrive? Would you want to?
