When can i add my fish?

Hey all iv started cycling my new tank for about 2 weeks now, i have 2 guppies n there to start the cycle as "starter fish". I know it takes 6 to 8 weeks for the tank 2 fully cycle ammonia down to zero, but do u have to wait till the tank is fully cycled to ad a fish that i want? My ammonia level is around 1.0 right now... when would be safe to add>?:confused:
 
Honestley some other people might view this differently, but from personal experience I am almost sure thta your fish will not be harmed at all if you put them in sometime this week.
 
they will be fine if you put them in now, just watch them and the levels over the next week or so.
 
from what i heard and experienced, 2 weeks is enough cycling to put in the fish unless the fish you are getting are extremely sensitive to water quality
 
should let ammonia get down to 0, no need to be impatient...or better yet just wait until the tank is cycled
 
I was wondering how big the tank is. If it's big, I don't know if 2 guppies will be enough to cycle the tank in that amount of time. Did you periodically check the water for the parameters and measure the ammonia go up and down. If yes, you're good to go. But, I don't think 2 guppies in 2 weeks is enough time or fish to cycle you tank. The Doctor.
 
How big is your tank? I'd say wait a couple of more weeks. I had 25 goldfish in my 125, and I waited four weeks. I got in a hurry and bought two plecos and an african knife after only two weeks, and I lost them all. The gold fish lived until they became feeders.
 
Not only should you wait for the tank to completely cycle, as stated above two guppies will not be enough to support a large bio-load of fish when you do stock it. You will have to add fish slowly to let the BB catch up. Thats why a fishless cycle is great. It takes a bit longer but you can add the amount of fish you want to stock the tank with once its done.
 
Well its not really a big tank, its a 30g tank for my fish, hes gona be alone for a while till the tank is fully cycled.. (well, with the guppies also) then im gona add others after a long time :naughty:
 
yeah that should work out
2 weeks is plenty for a 30 gallon
