when did asian aros become illegal in U.S.?
I also heard that if an asian aro is over 30 years old, you can have it in U.S.

1976 i believe. And the second part of your question is false. 100% illegal for all asian aro's in U.S.

thats where you're wrong importing asian aros is illegal but keeping the asians or buying form somebody within the states that has had asian aros before the ban is completely legal

I can't remember, but I read it somewhere that if the ban doesn't apply to the arowana then the ban doesn't apply to it's offsprings.

????? you mean for all of the US Asian arrowana breeding projects?:irked:

Strictly speaking, under CITES it is illegal to import them. But, if you get caught with one that maybe someone bred for you...how are you going to prove that...

I believe it was 1976 or 1977 and the general rule of thumb if you can prove you owned it prior to the ban it was grandfathered in but not its offspring. So it is ILLEGAL
to import, buy, sell or posess any Asiain Arrowana with in the United States ot its territorys-Anne

another thread? Yes they are illegal. u can move to canada, and get one.

daaa.... thats not weird.... capturing Highback or Gold Aros is also illegal in my place..
In Malaysia the wild arowanas are protected by law, so we cannot catch it.
Actually we can only keep the farm breed arowana, which were starting from second generations (F2) of the wild arowanas.
