I have what I believe is a male and female orangehead pair doing a bit of flirting and digging as if they're about to spawn.
They're no more than 11 months old. Closer to ten.
Is this even possible? Is it kind of like pubescent flirting but when it comes time to get busy they'll fire blanks?
It's kind of amazing. It's definitely the dominant male of the group so it's not surprising he'd be first to mature. But I would've guessed these fish had to be much older for this.
