when do new koi start eating pellets

i got some small koi at petsmart and i was wondering when they would start eating floating pellets like my goldfish they are in a outdoor pond

soon as they get hungry, in my experience koi are piglets and will go after any food put in the pond, the hardest part would be to train them to feed from your hand, but through this feeding technique they become more suseptable to raccoons and such.

should happen in no time. assuming that the fish arent too skittish

Never had issues feeding koi. Give them time.

Mine start eating after a few minutes in the tank. Yours shouldn't take long either.
