I am sure there are multiple topics on this same question but I didn't see them in my quick scan. Anyways I have 3 Florida gars who I am growing out for my bichir tank. They are >3" and currently eating frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp. I would like something that would speed up their growth rate as I don't see them growing very quickly on this diet. I have some frozen krill maybe I'll try that.
When do start your gars on pellets?

you can start now as long as the pellets will fit in their mouth
and try food sticks not the pellets

yup just a lil patience stop feeding them the other food when they get hungyry theyll eat the sticks
i wouldnt starve them til at least 6-8".
if they take pellets immediately then great.
if not,just wait.
