How do you determine when you have enough filtration on a tank?

For me it's when my water stays clear and my parameters are stable, even if I miss a w/c.

I think I'd add in a time element to that... The filter(s) should be able to keep your tank crystal clear and stable for at least two weeks without any mantainence.

Well I do w/cs once a week so that would be about where I am.

when you poor a bucket of mud in and it dissaperes in under 5 seconds
:)

and your water parems and everything is still perfect:headbang2

When there’s no ammonia or nitrite and the water is tolerably clear.

Never. :) I have two AC110s on my 10g, and I'm considering 2 small whisper in-tank filters just for fun.
