i've had my piranhas for about a month now and they're growing quick which i know they do for the first 6 months but when can i expect to see the red belly starting to show on them? thanks.

i tink mine were 2 too 3 inches, and that red bellie will fade in and out, or at least mine do and there 3 and half to 4''

I have one 6"er that is almost all black in the tail and no red in it's belly.

I got him from a freind that didn't really know what he was doing. It's all about proper feeding. Some foods will help bring colors out in your fish better than others.

whiskey, yours could jus have no red cuz he's not comfortable. hes all alone and prianhas do better in groups. i have 9 and there always red. had all of them sinze .5" fry and they all showed red bellies around the 1 to 1.5" mark

there red bellies come out under lighting conditions. ive found when i put the light on in a morning the fish are almost black after a couple of hours with the light the red bellies show and the seen to sparkle on top (looks like glitter has been put on them)

i think thats a false statement. they turn black cuz u jus scared the crap out of them and there so nervous n wondering whats going on. they get used to it n the red comes back. they have red all night long when lights are off u just can't see it. the red comes with how comfortable they feel, its a way of showing off almost sorta kinda.

if thats the case you would see the red when you turn the light on. and if the are only black when they are scared i guess mine must be afraid of the dark
