When is a fish illegal?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why would Hawaii make owning a ShovelNose Catfish Illegal. They don't have enough freshwater rivers/lakes to support such an animal!

Get the Fish and Stay Low!

Seems like the Hawaii state governmet makes ALL cool fish illegal here.
There are alot of freshwater streams that fish could thrive if let go. We have a big lake called Lake Wilson, it's stocked wth pbass, s/m & l/m bass, needle fish, channel catfish, oscar, red devils, and a whole lot of crap people have let go.
Almost all rivers here are infested with pleco's.

what you also need to think about is what was in that lake before people started to let the fish they didnt want lose in it

hmmmm, sounds like it's time for a fishing trip to me!

Ignorance of the law is not the fault of the government it is your fault for not knowing the laws.... Trust me I know.... I got caught with some canebreak rattlesnakes a few yrs back, well timber rattlesnakes are endangered in Tx and Tx looks at canebreaks as timbers needless to say I got fined for it and was told that it's not there fault I don't know the laws and sub laws

unless that TSN is 6"+ that seams like alot for one, I paid $16 and they commonly sell for $15-$20 around here but then again you are in hawaii...

$21 for a 3 incher here!

Dont forget piranhas and snakeheads have been found in that lake. Go ahead and get it. If anything you should at least be easy to know that you have a tank big enough to house it. Just make sure to really check it out. I think they might me a hybrid by the coloration and markings.

Oh, forgot about those. A friend and I went to our spot one night to see if we could use a scoop net to catch some fish. We ended up picking up a 15" snakehead.:WHOA:
We put it in his pond, but it jumped out and died.
