Hello everyone.

My Black Belt cichlid is really on its last legs (fins) I believe. Over the last year it just seems to be doing less and less. It kind of just looks OLD.

I have had it for about 6 years and it was about 8 inches when I bought it. It is now about 8.5 inches or so.

It has been hiding as of late and now has moved to the front of my tank and is just lying there. It just will not move. To me, it looks like it is suffering.

It hasn't eaten in quite some time.

Now, my small festae just died, and with that fish being dead in the tank for probably 8 hours, caused a bit of a spike and I had to treat my tank. By the next day, all were STARVING and back to their old selves.

But, with the Black Belt, it just looks like it is going to die. And, I will be out of town for the next 2 days. I am just afraid that if it does die, it will send my tank into a horrible tank spin if I am not home to address it.

I do not have any extra tanks and honestly feel bad.

Should I put it down? If so, what is the most humane way to do it.

I am really bummed because I have just loved this fish.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Nevermind,

I went downstairs and he was gone:cry:

Very, very sad evening.

He was the only fish that stood up and held its own with the red devil when it wanted to spar.
