Hi, I'm wondering when is the peak value for an Arowana before it's prices go down? I mainly wonder for a Silver and a Jardini since I have both, but feel free to list whatever you know. I once saw a 2 1/2 foor Silver in a tank at the store and the store owner said it was sold for $100 when it went missing. I couldn't tell if she was pulling my leg or if it really did sell for $100 because of it's age/size. What do you think? Is there a certain peak value of an Aro before the price starts dropping, and then what is the lowest price it will go for?

I don't intend on selling my Aro's, but I am interested how the value system works for these fellas!

i think that not many people have tanks large enough to sufficiently hold a 2 foot aro and could be why the owner sold it for so cheap. imo an aros value depends on your location and demand for the fish.

When a silver is huge people will sell for less to get rid of it because they're common. When a Jardini gets huge (20" plus) people will pay more since you don't see them that large very often.

depends on your location and the supply and demand.. if you live in an area where asians are illegal, you should be thinking about jars and leis.. silvers and blacks are not that expensive when they are fully grown.. jars and leis fetch a higher value but not compared to asians.. but in my opinion, the market for mature aros are not that many.. juvies sell like pancakes but mature ones are not so.. unless you have a rare aro like platinum or something like that, it's price exceeds the asians many times over.. lol

I don't agree....I think large Australians sometimes sell for less because not many people want a single specimen tank.

I've never seen that, but it's a good possibility.

Well honestly it's probably not seen in LFS but on the forum occasionally you'll see "Jardini gotta go". I sold mine for dam near nothing.
I still regret it sometimes.
