When is the youngest you can seperate fry?

I have a pair of central americans who i have just notice have live fry but the parents are to small to protect them long. How long do i have to wait to seperate the fry right now they swim downward and one shoots up every ones in a while.

Siphon then out with a hose now, as they get bigger it'll be harder to catch them. Ken

Ya, fry are easily seperated as soon as they are free swimming.

Because they would be swimming around
you could move them even before though
I have moved fry on the first day before just make sure the tep in the other tank is the same

I leave them in the tank for two weeks after they start swimming. When you turn the tank lights on they will usually be concentrated in a pile with the parent....easy to siphon.

I've waited 2 or 3 weeks When I knew they were going to spawn on a few occasions I just removed to parents & placed them back in main tanks.

i normaly take them out at the first day on free swimming, only because they would get snapped up by the other cichlids. now with my sajicas i left them with the parents because the tank is divided. i have noticed they are growing much quicker.
