A couple of my Severums have been locking lips for the past hour, pushing each other back and forth. Sometimes their kissy fight dance gets interrupted by a rude blood parrot, but they always seem to get back together. So... Will this little kissy combat harm either of them, or is it okay for me to enjoy it? And how will these guys decide who wins?

My males do this a lot. It's a way of establishing dominance. Eventually one fish will break away from the other. They tend to go to separate places in the tank to rest afterward.

As long as you're not seeing split fins, missing scales, and other bodily harm, they should be fine. Make sure you have a large enough tank with enough hiding spots that they can take shelter from one another to rest and recuperate. If one fish is relentlessly attacking/chasing another to the point that it always hides or stays near the top of the tank, you may need to separate them.

sorry but i have the same problem i have alot of young 2 inch viejas and they fight alot probably 12 total fish and they are in my 180 should i get rid of the mean ones and will they kill eachother in the future if they are fightning right now

I've had my sevs for about 4 months now, theyre around the 5-6 inch mark and yet to see them fighht with each other just follow each other around, they do look funny when they square up to the oscar

They are kinda funny really. They kept fighting for a while, and then they went into the same cave together and are just chillin.

Sounds like courtship instead of fighting.
