I'm sorry if this has been covered somewhere else... I think this might be a question for those of you with larger Arowana. Three days ago, my husband and I purchased a 24 inch silver Aro on craigslist. The drive was about an hour, and he was in a Rubbermaid container with an air stone. He hasn't shown interest in eating yet (but I didn't really expect him to... he's been through a lot). He got a little beat up in the move, but he's healing up already. How long do I wait for him to eat before I get worried? I have tried sticks (what his previous owner fed) and crickets (I figured it might entice him to eat). The Red Tail gets the sticks after they sink, and the Pacu eats the crickets. The Arowana shows no interest. What do you think? Should I try feeding something else, or just wait it out? How long is really too long for him? And if this is posted elsewhere, please let me know... I'll just add to that thread.

let it get use to the tak for a few days then it should start eating

I adopted a 21" silver a couple years ago, it took about three weeks before he would eat with any regularity.

THREE WEEKS:eek: damn that's a long time. didn't know they can go that long w/o food.
that's a $$$ saver right their. lol

afew days aounds normal, afew weeks is deff possible. my silver will stop eating for a week or so, and then he eat everything in sight.

Thanks for that info... I won't start worrying yet. As for three weeks, I definitely believe it. When we were trying to get our Florida Gar to go onto non-live foods, he went five weeks without eating. I finally gave up and threw in some minnows. But five weeks!

my two aro's took 2 weeks to start eating after the move. They both dived towards the food at the same time one day. Two weeks exactly. It was beef heart that I fed them. Now they are back to not eating. It's been 1 1/2 weeks now. weird.
