Right now i have them in a hang on the tank nursery but when would be best to move them to their own tank? I have a 20 gallon cycled and ready for them but im not sure if they are ready for it. Im trying to be cautious because i have yet to lose any of the babies and id like to keep a 100% survival rate. As of now they are about a month old and roughly 5/8" total length. Do you guys think they will be ok finding food in the bigger tank or should i wait a little longer?

A 20 gallon is not that large...they should be fine. Just sort of spread the food out at feeding time.

I don't know how many baby plecos you have...but trying to maintain a 100% survival rate is pretty tough...and maybe unrealistic. Although getting them to 5/8" in size is a great start towards that goal.

I currently have 4 sets of fry:

- fantail goldfish
- 2 sets of Convicts
- Jack Dempsey

And in all of them...I've probably had about a 25% survival rate thus far (good water quality & plenty of food). Which really isn't terrible...when you figure in cannibalism, survival of the fittest, competition for food, good/bad genetics. And technically speaking...all spawn are not "perfect". So sometimes you cull the fry/small ones for genetic defects.

I think that the 20 gallon tank will be fine. It would be nice to know how many small ones you have.:)

Theres still 33 and its hard see any "defects" in them cuz they are still small. Im gonna divide the tank a little so i know they can find food plus any left over food will get eaten by the few snails in the tank.
