My jardini has been on frozen blood worms for about close to a month now and he's growing steadily. He's gained at least an inch since I bought him. I heard that feeding market prawns does wonders to the fish however I don't know when I should start. Here I have a set of questions that I would love to have feedback on.

1. Are these the market prawns that everyone is talking about?

2. Should I feed them raw or cooked? With the shell or without?

3. If I do start a market prawn diet should I still feed him everyday? People have told me that during their first year, it's advised that you feed everyday for the best growth. Then in the 2nd year and after, you feed every other day.

first off welcome...and i feed my fish the frozen shrimp out of the freezer section...comes in a bag of 50ish usually. i put them in a cup of hot water until they are defrosted and then pull the little tail shell off and throw them in...My fish love them

Those look like the correct shrimp. Feed raw and peel off the shell until he is bigger. Some aros will eat shrimp with shell on, some won't eat that way. Just make sure that when you do feed with shell on, that you remove the tail where there is a very fine spike that could do a lot of damage to your fish.

How big is your aro? You should cut up the shrimp in bite sized pieces and if he's less than a foot long, feed twice a day until he is a foot long then switch to once a day. Once fully grown you can feed every other day. I feed my adult aro and preds 4-5 times a week max.

I'd strongly suggest using other food items as well. Pellets, superworms, chicken, etc.

If it's similar to Hikari aro sticks, and I think they're the same food actually, then I would break up the stick in 3 pieces and feed that way. Better to be a bit small than too big. :)

My jar is about 7 inches and I cut market shrimp into pieces that will fit in mouth and stick a hikari food stick in it he loves it and I feed him twice a day
