I have a 20 gallon tank with 60 watts of light
4 yellow tail damsels
1 clown fish
1 type of goby
10 small hermit crabs
7 large live rocks

For filtration i have penguin bio- wheel 350 and a protein skimmer working..
I also have 4 pumps working.

So i was wondering when and what type of corals should i start with..cheap ones too if possible

If all goes well with this tank i will soon upgrade into a 45 gallon tank.. to which i have been cycling for three days now

so any type of help or advice will help a lot..

thanks and god bless

How long have you had the tank? What are the parameters?

Start out with some softies. Leathers, mushrooms, zoos(zoanthids), that sort of thing.

how long has the tank been up and running usually for the best success with corals it is best to let the tank be mature for at least 6 months time and some good beginner corals are your soft corals, zoanthids, mushrooms.

Ive had my tank for about 3-4 months now.. so i guess i should wait huh?? or is it still possible to put in beginner corals?? i got the Master Reef Test Kit and my parameters are:

I would go to the LFS and get a small frag or two of zoanthids or mushrooms. They are generally hardy and can find some varieties cheap (that still look nice).

the parameter's are looking good the tank should be ready for corals but if you can wait 6 months do so, so that your zooplankton can multiply more and grow and your tank can age a bit more to make it a bit nicer for your first coral
