Summary:
-Outlet stopped working in massage room at rental house, tank die off followed overnight as the room temps go down to 40F in the night. Difficult to obtain killifish that were thriving are now dead because their tank dropped to 40F un-noticed during the night due to the "power outtage".
- I stay overnight at my parents unexpected when a storm is predicted during my visit, drive to the rental house to feed my baby killifish the next day, all gone, presumed dead due to being a day without food.
- My male BN pleco, Drossel who I've had for years, suddenly dies. I begin to suspect that I didn't pay attention to some clues enough and was housing too many plecos together and feel guilty.
- My favorite syno, Killington is losing his barbels followed by time consuming trouble shooting follows, problem remains unresolved. Issues such as water quality and anything else I can think of ruled at as a cause of problems as I troubleshoot the tank. Twice a day driving to my parents house doing extra water changes involved.
- After I start filling my plant pots with fresh flourite in my planted community tank, a cloudy water issues follow from the silt despite that I pre rinsed the substrate and my female betta is found dead with gill wide open.
- I move my last surviving killifish pair by to a large tank noticing the male seems to beat on his mate despite that they live in a heavily planted ten gal. I grumble about how can people keep their killifish pairs in two to five gal tanks.
- My syno, Killington comes down with a mystery illness that nobody on the internet has a clue what it is. In other words, a baffling mystery on my hands. I drop everything to try and save a favorite fish. Followed by more frequent driving back and forth. Followed by emergency runs to the LFSs, more meds. I double check the water quality by having it tested at both LFS. This all happens as I 'm thinking life is finally calming down enough so I can start applying to new jobs again.
- After a lot of finger crossing and hoping the meds work, Killington gets better, but is now skinny from being mystery sick and only accepts frozen bloodworms. Once again, nobody on the internet has a clue what to do so I'm on my own again. More driving back and forth to the parents house and thoughts that my food stamp money is going into gas again this month.
And I'm thinking, I do this for fun?.. I'm sure all of you who have been in this for a while have times like this. I guess I should be grateful that I have never had a total die happen like some who had days of power outtages happen. . I look forward to problems being resolved and mysteries solved so I can start another breeding program with either the synodontis or the plecos.
