When to add plants

If you are just starting a new tank when is the best time to add plants? After it's cycled or does it even matter?

I plant before/during cycling. The plants use the wastes as fertilizer so can help minimize the impact of cycling. If densely planted enough, it can even cause a "silent" cycle though this should not be relied upon.

wastes as in fish wastes, uneaten food, etc

also plants are great carriers of beneficial bacteria, it will seed some from the store you bought it from.

Oh, ok I didn't know whether or not you were talking about a fishless cycle or what. Ok, I'll probably add my plants the first time I add water to the tank when I buy it.
