Did you cycle it? Are your ammonia and nitrite readings zero? If so, you can add a pleco any time after the cycle is stable. I'd probably wait about two more weeks to make sure the cycle is stable, and wait for nitrates to rise so that you do a water change. You just want to make sure the cycle can handle the additional bioload. Since plecos have to be fed, it's just like adding any other fish. Just make sure you research the type you want to acquire, and understand its dietary and environmental needs. Make sure environmental needs match the other fish you're keeping. Also, since you have a planted tank, you're going to want one that stays fairly small. Big plecos can tear up plants when they move around. Also, some of your plants may get eaten, depending on what they are, but if you supplement with fresh veggies, I think you'll be okay. Others may feel differently about that -- I have only kept Commons, and mine have never gone after plants.
