Hello. I've had a marble pup for about 6 months. He's eating shrimp and worms well along with pellets when they're mixed with them. I'd say he's somewhere around 6" and I currently have him alone in a bare bottom 40 breeder. I have target trained him with a PVC pipe.

My goal is to get him into my 12 foot, 540 gallon tank. The tank is mostly SA cichlids (heros, geos, acaras, specs, etc) and large loaches and a few others. They crush any and all food I put in so I'm worried he will struggle. I don't think he's ready yet but do you just run into an "ahha" moment to introduce them?

U.K
8" is the normal size to introduce to other rays
If there are no other rays you may find the ray is okay so long as he doesn't get picked on by other larger fish

Great. Thanks. There are no other rays but I think I should hold off until maybe that point. The other tankmates aren't aggressive but are quite a bit larger than him right now.
