Last weekend I was surprised to see my male Escondido in breeding colors. I wasn't even sure I had a pair becuase they would fight non stop and never showed anything that resembled pairing. Well Monday I came home to eggs and the female in full color. Today I have wigglers in a pit with both parents gaurding. I had not separated these 2 fish out because I thought the male would kill the female in there own tank. The tank they are in has several other fish that will no doubt munch the fry if the parents don't themselves.

When should I remove the fry? I just setup a 30g for them today. Should I wait for them to start swimming or move them now? These are first time parents and although they are doing great I don't really trust them.

Thanks,
J.D.

before they leave breeding colors, then they start eating the fry and womping on each other in my experience

Thanks everyone. The fry are coming out tonight. They are still gaurding this morning and raining hell on all other tankmates.

I haven't had time to get any pics Peathenster, maybe tonight if I get home at a decent time.
