When to start tanning regime?

My red arowana is currently around 11-12 inches. There is also a orange-gold hue on its cheeks and body. Should I start tanning it now and how should I do it?

Yes generally when the cheek cracks you can start..
T5 lights 10000k above would do
Side tanning gives faster results, but it isnt practical as it will stress the aro plus would be quite hard for them since light is shining directly at them..
I suggest do top tanning or natural sunlight..
Ur aro has good potential

Tanning can be started but it really depends whether you want to stress your fish or not...better pump it up till 15''
