Im cycling my new 75g african set up, and I have a uv filter for it. When should I start the uv filtration?
I dont have any fish in yet, and my params are right on. I plan on picking up a few africans this weekend.
But I know that the uv can kill some bb if you start it too soon, right?

Any help?
Thanks

what does a uv filter doo?

I think you start it after the tank has cycled.

I agree. Fire it up once your tank is completely cycled.

I would start running it after you have the tank about 1/2 stocked, because the bb levels will grow as the bioload increases.

You can do it at any time because BB live on the surface areas in the tank, not the water itself. The only way BB would get into the UV would be if a piece of the BB slime came off of somewhere, but then it would have been excess anyways.
