Hello,

I have a Rope fish and a Seng. Bichir. Besides the fact that they're both doing great I have a question about feed them. I've read over posts about feeding and the stickys but I was hoping someone can just quickly answer this quick question. I feed both these guys a diet of frozen Bloodworms, Hakari Sinking Carnivore pellets, Freeze dried Krill, and some Ghost Shrimp as a treat every now and then. The main question I have is when do I know my bichirs are done eating? I know a good pointer would be once they stop eating..:screwy: but! mine seems just to suck everything that floats or sinks to the bottom of the tank, and no they weren't starved or anything they're just pigs... so if someone could give me a example of they feed theirs it would be great.

Thanks,
Justin

For my two bichirs (about 7") and 3 ropes in my one tank, they get two white shrimp every second day. To figure out if that was enogh I just kept cutting small pieces and adding it to the tank. When their bellies have a nice sized bulge, you can be pretty sure they are good for the day. If they still have a bulge the next day, skip the feeding until the following day.

I drop 5 pellets every feeding time. Whenever they gobble up one, I add another one in, (yes its tedious and time-consuming but I love my fishes). Repeat until they show no more interest in the pellets. I then vac away the remaining uneaten pellets in the tank.
