500 gal tank drilled on the bottom can schedule 40 handle that kind of pressure?

You get it again here!

Pressure? Whether the tank is 500 gallon, or 90 gallon--pressure on the tank is the same. Pressure is a function of the height of the tank, not the amount of water in it. If a 90 gallon tank is 24 inches height, and 10,000 gallon tank is 24 inches tall, they will both have the same pressure measured at a bulkhead in the bottom of the tank.

You don't need schedule 80 bulkheads just because the tank is 500 gallons. Your aquarium won't create any pressure that schedule 40 can't handle.

The only reason I used schedule 80 bulkheads on my 600 gallon fiberglass tank is because of the thicker gasket. Otherwise, like mentioned above, schedule 40 would've worked just fine as far as pressure goes.

Thank you sir.

The time to use schedule 80 is when you plan to stand on the pipes.
