Because everytime i use melafix/pimafixm, the air bubble wand creates alot of bubbles on the surface. It covers the whole surface. Should i turn it off for awhile till it cools down a bit? Or this is normal

My opinion is that , if you turn the air off there is going to be a film of the meds at the surface of the water depleting the oxigen from the tank , i have used it before and always leave the air on

I always leave the air on buddy,my aro cant stand the stuff when i put it in,because he thinks hes getting food and instead gets this horrible taste,im sure he looks at me to say what the hell was that:ROFL:

cheers steve

Leave the air on, remove any carbon. I treat different then what the directions say though. Instead of just dosing every 24 hours I also do a 33 to 50% water changeevery 24 hours. The treatment is usually only needed for 5 days.

What are you treating the aro for?

Also as a note, when I treated the tank with my big silvers they went on a hunger strike. Would not eat during treatment and took about two weeks after before they would accept food again.

Why pima/melafix ?

They're usually used top treat secondary infection, if your fish is ill, you need to treat it accordingly first, then you can use pima or mela to stop spreading the disease.

For example, one of my black was severely bullied. Lost all his fins and tail. I saw some fin rot to start happening. I took him out. Applie pottasium permanganate on the fin and tail to stop the infection from the outside.

Put him in a hospital tank with salt and extra aeration. After 3-4 days, I did 50% WC and added an antibiotics for a week and he was healing nicely after about 2 weeks.
