Knife fish aer almost always shy. Some people may not agree with this but if you keep him in a bare tank he will not be as shy. He will be forced to lose his fear.

They are also nocturnal, how bright are your lights? Im sure at night he comes out of hiding and roams about looking for food, i used to watch mine on night vision. i actually think i have a vid on here somewhere. I wouldnt say he is a wuss, just following his natural instinct.

Yea i know but the bigger ones in vids r not so shy
maybe cuz they are too big too hide
well in the new tank he wont have much of a hiding spot...

they are a noctournal species so you wont see them out and about too much in the day time. dont make fun of fish they are the some of the most interesting things in the world.

I like to get some plastic plants, the draping kind like bamboo bush or whatever and float it on top. This cuts the light down a little and makes the fish more secure and less likely to try to jump out. My CK is only 6" and he comes out all the time with the lights on.

thats a good idea, I do the same with most of my catfish they love it.

He's still pretty small. Even my 10" still hides, but he comes out during feeding time.
