Got a Gold Nugget L-18, Queen Arabesque L260 and a Ancistomus sabaji from TFD. The Gold Nugget went in the 120 and went into the castle decoration and up the spires never to be seen. The Ancistomus is hiding behind the intake tube in my 55 and the Queen is in a plastic rock cave in the same tank. I never see them. What Plecos besides the common ones are out most of the time? Maybe I need a big Red Cactus for my 120. The exotic plecos I have are small 2-3 inches. My common ones are about 6 inches long or longer.

I too would ditch the castle as I have lost a few plecos in these structures. They can get stuck, and die. L200s and L128s are often out, my zebra is often out as well. My royals, adonis, sultan, bruno, and commons are all hiders, and always have been.

Well it does depend on the individual fish, and also the sex. In many species you won't see the male much at all, and the females are much more nomadic. In my experience the plecs you have currently generally hide a lot, especially hypancistrus species. A great percentage of species hide a lot at a young age and become "bolder" as they get bigger. Many, if not all species would hide a lot of the time anyway unless searching for food etc. If they are given the places to hide. A big red cactus might be ok, but i know a lot of people who keep them find them to be slightly secretive too.

I can't ditch the castle because the CK's go in here. The CK is in the bottom of the castle, A Sun Cat is further up in the castle, futher up is a Mok -Upside down catfish and the pleco is in the top spire with only a few gold spots visible by shining a flashlight in the little window. Not the ideal situation

Ditch it and get some driftwood or rocks in there. The fish will find new territories, but the castle may lead to the untimely death of your pleco.

Might be easier to put the driftwood and other hides in first... might help shift some of the fish over.
