hi guys i'm not the most patient guy in MFK so i was wondering how long it will take my new 75 gallon tank to clear up in all the hazy sand and "dust particles" from used ssand i got with it. Boy am i dumb, I didn't even bother to rinse the 2 buckets of sand since it was already wet!!! Dang. as soon as i filled the tak full of water, the tank was all hazy and a greened tinted colour (not very green tiny slight). will all the debris sink to the bottom with time?? i used my pytho to suck aroun 30% of the hazy water (105 one time and 20% another). will it ever clear up and get rid of the green?? my tank is right next to the a glass door so alot of sunlight will be coming in. is the green colour caused because of the remaining algae the previously owner was too lazt to net out (i netted out alot of "spongy algae bits and drift wood chips). the previous owner had a of sword plants in his tank. so the bottom line is............will the tank clear up to cystal clear or no?? it's been 12 hours alrady since ifilled my tank with water. i won't be at my house for 3 weeks to maintian the tank. HELP!!!

What do you have for mechanical filtration? When I changed to sand it took about a day and a half for my many filters to clear up the fine particles. When I cleaned my canisters I had a bunch of fine particles that had settled in the bottoms of the canisters that I had to clean out.

if you want a faster process and do not have any fish in the aquarium then turn off all the pumps and let everything settle to the bottom for a day. then take a gravel vac and siphon the sand and you should get all the fine dust that was causing the cloudiness.
