I have a 50 gallon brackish tank with 1 gymnothorax tile eel, 1 red scat, 2 monos, 1 columbian shark, 4 nerite snails.

There is an HOB power filter and a sponge filter. The tank is pretty established at this point as its been going for about 6 months.

The scat, shark and monos are below medium size so they are doing fine in this tank for now.

I really want to add some more fish, as there is so much room in this tank right now that it feels like its going to waste. I realize that the fish are going to get bigger but that won't be for a while given their current size.

Right now, do you think I could add 2 orange chromides and a green scat?
or would this overstock the tank?

does anyone have any recommendations for other things I could add?

Since adult scats requite 50g & Columbian sharks grow to 18", monos to about 1' & both are a schooling species, what do you think? You already have enough fish for 100+g, when they are adult. Let them grow into their tank & ask again... Are you planning on getting schools for those schooling fish & upgrading?

Once they get bigger I will either upgrade (if I have the money) or I'll sell them.
But my question is for right now, as they aren't very big, not the future.
My tank is mainly based around my eel, who can live in there his whole life, the other fish are there just so it doesn't look dead when the eel is hiding.

I think since I have double filtration, adding two or three more fish of the same size wouldn't hurt. I just wanted to confer with the experts, as I don't want to do this and have my eel die cause its overstocked.

Filtration only removes waste from the water column. It does not reduce or dilute that waste. Please do not buy any more fish for that tank. It is difficult to get rid of adult fish. If you can't keep them for their life, don't buy them.

I wouldn't add anything to the tank, the mere bioload from the fish in there like the g. tile already put you on the brink of overstocking

I sold the Shark back to the fish store because he was going to get too big for the tank, he needed a school, and all he did was hide in the corner and splash water. He should be happier in another home.
Now I have the the two Monos, the Scat, eel, orange chromide and some nerite snails. I'm thinking I will get one more orange chromide. I'm sure you all still think that my tank is overstocked. I plan on uprading to a 100 gallon tank in a couple months. With the 100 gallon would I be able to get another mono or two or instead more chromides?

keep in mind that the monos are large and very active, I'd even consider not having them in the 100 depending on the dimensions of the tank

well he could keep them for there whole lives

but there lives would be short
