I've had this Gold Saum for a few months. He's Probably anywhere from 4'' to 4.25'' long. When I got him, he was under 3'', and the tips of his tail and dorsal were a creamy whitish-orange with no change in color up to now. I'm wondering to all those fishkeepers that have kept these fish from a small size how long it took to develope that bright orange color?
All other colors on this fish are incredible. He is very active and dominate.
Thanx

Whats his diet like? I found supplementing mine with krill really brings out the orange.

Currently feeding Hikari Bio-Gold pellets in the morning and afternoon, frozen bloodworms or frozen brine shrimp in the evenings.

when i bought mine he was already bright orange and still is eventhough the rest of his body is dark. is it healthy for them to eat blood worms everyday?

I don't feed him bloodworms everyday. I feed him the bloodworms everyother or every third day. Feed the brine on the other days.

should start around the 4 inch mark or so all depends on wat u feed him and the mood its in...

Mine is only two inches and the gold color is very bright already.

Yea, I got mine at about 1" with brown edged fins, within a week of being in my tank, he developed bright, orange trim.

I feed him shrimp, ocena plankton, tetra cichlid sticks, NLS, and omega one shrimp pellets and tropical flakes.

Sometimes he gets bloodworms, brine shrimp, and a variety of frozen.

Variety + water changes is the key to color I have found.

Now he's about 3".
