Hi all,new to the forum.

I have a 480L set up about 5 months with some young South-Central American Cichlids in it........a Green Terror(11cm),Tiger Oscar(12cm),Green Texas(11cm),Jack Dempsey(8cm) and a Convict(7cm).......They were all introduced within 2-3 weeks of each other and apart from the odd chase and occasional swipe all is very peaceful in there :)........I know as they get bigger the territory that they have for themselves will get smaller but there is still a lot of tank for 5 fish in the not so distant future, and I have it well divided up with suspended root wood and plants...........So what i'm wondering is,will this "peace" change? and if so what should I look out for? Thanks

Gerry

Thats around 126 US gallons. What are the dimensions of thank?

You might have to watch the texas and jd as they grow. Both can become aggressive when they put on some size.

Depend on each one character, you might get away with them getting along each other later or some of them just become a jerk and want its own tank when they're grow bigger.

It really is a coin toss. It may last 6 months it may last 2 years.
Things to look out for: shredded fins, all but one of the fish on one side of the tank, lots of lip locking.

It's 154 x 61 x 51.....478L I think is the exact size

I'll watch out for them so......The Texas in particular is a stunning fish I must say,but for the moment the Green Terror keeps manners on him (and the rest!!) cheers

Cheers......I think I was kind of expecting a fair bit of aggression before now so that's why my curiousity is getting the better of me.........I'll keep an eye out for any changes in there, could be lucky!!

First off, welcome!

Secondly, as stated about, it may last, it may not. Every fish is an individual and some play with others better. I'd say the fish to really watch out for are the GT and the Texas. Fully grown they'll rule the tank is my guess. Keep an eye on it always and my advice from very resent experience... If it's working, don't change it!

Best of luck! Keep us posted. Also we'd love some pics of the tank!

I have the same predicament in my 250g

2 male dovii, 7 and 11 inches
1 pair barred midas, 6 and 7 inches,
1 pair red devil 5 and 6 inches
1 texas, 5 inches

I know eventually the dovii will be alone in this tank, but for now they all look nice in the tank.
