Unless your going to be going away for several weeks at a time then the best bet is to let them go without food. Fish in captivity eat far more frequently then they "need too" going without food for a week, or even a few weeks depending on the fish will do no harm.
There are 2 main advantages to this, 1st- you don't need a fish sitter, 2nd is in the filtration, if your not home to monitor a tank then it's best to keep the bioload low . if the filter fails and the fish isn't being fed then it will take much longer before the water becomes toxic. For this same reason i wouldn't dump a pile of fish into the tank before leaving, or feed heavily before leaving.Best to leave them on an empty stomach and keep the water clean.
When I travel I stop feeding 2-3 days before leaving, then right before i leave i do a nice big 50%+ water change. as a added bonus they'll be good and hungry when you get back so get the video camera out for a show!
Only 1 fish in the tank and it will Stay that way for a while I'm goin to be away for like 3 days next week then August 7 days then in march 2 weeks and little vacations here and there got 2-3 days

Agreed 3 day's is nothing to worry about, I only feed my snakeheads 2-3 times a week for the young ones, 1 maybe 2 times a week for adults.
Also if it's a snakehead it'll always be just the one fish in the tank lol, they don't tolerate tankmates. Anything you put in that tank will be the next meal.
what species did you end up getting and what sized tank ?? # of fish doesn't mean anything depends on the size of that fish, one fish can produce a lot of waste especially predatory ones.
