When you were a newbie did you start off with a super small tank? And then now years later you look around and you have several big tanks? lol.

I started off with a 6g, a tiny little starter 6g with platys, and now my whole downstairs has been taken over....ranging from 30g to 130g.
I have puffers, to cichlids, to bichirs....not all in the same tank but you get what i mean. This was my process over the last 3 years...from platys in a 6g to oscars in a 130g.

What did you start off with? and how far along have you come?

or did you jump right in and started off with a huge tank and big fish?

Well, I started off with a ten gallon when I was 8, and I had that for 5 years. Then I got a 30 gallon and have had that for several years, and now I'm soon buying a 125G. So yeah it's been pretty slow for me.

Started with a 10 gal and now have a 685 gal water trough. lol..

Plus 3x 125's and 2x 150's plus numerous others.

Over a 5 year stretch.

Well I am still a newbie, but yes...I started w/ a 10 gallon. Had it for maybe 6 months & bought a 29 gallon bowfront. Had it for 2 months & bought a 72 gallon bowfront. Havn't even finished setting it up yet, but bought a 46 gallon bowfront last weekend. I'd love to have a big tank, but I just don't have the room for one.

Twenty gallon to five hundred gallon.

When I was a n00b....I had a 10gal with a Blue Gourami, Albino Rainbow Shark, Senegal Bichir and Pleco with 100% water changes with full clean outs of gravel and everything :eek:YIKES!!! it took me two years to realize the tank size was too small, upgraded to a 20gal :wall: it wasn't until my tank felt empty with a featherfin syno and ctenopoma with my 2nd :( senegal,it wasn't till June that I found a fish board that said I needed a bigger tank, so I got a 55gal and my realization of my faults came to light now I have a 2.5gal Betta,10gal Mollie/QT, 20gal Tanganyka, and my 75gal "Big Bichir" tank I still have the filter from 3 years ago AC20 and the Ctenopoma are all that is left from my poor care....I'm Still a newbie but I'll never stand watching a tank with Nitrates above 20ppm again

Started with a 50g with platys and angels and clown loaches then changed to discus and rams and corys etc, kept that for probably 5years+.
Then got the 180g full of discus etc, kept that for 7years +.
Moved to new house and got a 100g for the discus, and the 180 has my aro etc in now for 2 years + and got a 60g growout monster tank for 2 years+ also have a 20g hospital tank for emergencies.

Now were waiting for planning permission to come through so we can build the extension for the 9' x4'5' x32" high which is 800g:headbang2

Been keeping fish for approximately 15 years.

i started out with a 30G. with anabas and other local fishes. (Philippines)

I had a 10 gallon when I was a teenager but I don't think that really counts. About ten years ago I purchased a 29 gallon shortly after I got married. About a year later I purchased a HUGE 55 gallon tank. I currently have a 300, a 210, and a 55 gallon. I'm sure I will end up with a bigger aquarium one of these days but I'm in no hurry.
